Power-tripping

May 09, 2008 4:00 AM

Of all the housemates, Nan was one who could play whatever hand was dealt him. Always with a smile on his face, he rarely gave in to teasing, even if it was at his expense. In fact, he’d even be first in on the joke, the one who’d laugh the hardest. This time, however, the House Player dealt a pretty tough game. Shy’s third task was to irritate Nan, and the moment she stepped out of the Confession Room, she was at Nan’s side, with an endless stream of below-the-belt comments. Seemingly unaffected, Nan kept on eating, and did not even attempt to leave the table. However, he went to Kuya after and there became quite emotional in expressing his sentiments. He admitted that he had second thoughts about pushing through with PBB, feeling insecure of his limitations and lack of physical appeal. Kuya appeased him saying that no one was ugly, being made in the likeness of God. Still, Nan sought comfort from the other boys, who felt for him and showed full support. Ejay, for one, reacted on Nan’s defense. Nan really felt bad since Shy insinuated that he was really ugly and stupid. Though they all had an inkling that it was a task (Robi even noted that Shy just came from the Confession Room before the incident happened), it didn’t lessen the effect on Nan.
Kuya called Shy in and announced her success on her third task. Shy was really ecstatic about it, as her pot money has now grown to P 20,000, and exclaimed “I knew it! I’m so great!” However, she still had to fix the rift with Nan. She approached Nan, who obviously had a big shift in his treatment of the House Player. Shy claimed that Nan reminded her of her cousin, whom she missed, which was why she went overboard in teasing him. Nan, not one to hold grudges, accepted her apology and said “P is P – past is past.” All was well once again… at least, until the group task.

The teens were made to create their own superhero, and to their surprise, costumes were ready for them and were soon tasked to be their own unique superhero. Once they hear their self-made chant, they had to rush to the telephone booth, change in to their costume, climb up a platform and recite their chant. Each had their own unique power. Nan was Bulol, who was super bilis. Ejay was Zoperman (a hybrid of Zorro and Superman) who had super suntok powers. Alex was Kuya Alex (patterned after Big Bro himself) who had super lagos powers. Josef kept up his crazy antics as Super Utot, with powers that is explained by his name. Robi had the power of invisibility as Pinoy Kid. Nikki was the Fashionista with ultra kisay powers, while Rona was Positive Girl with super rewind skills. Hyper Shy had buhawi powers and Priscillicious Gypsy had mega gaya. Val the Amazona had telekinesis and Beauty, as Super Piggy, had the great power of mind control.

The teens were divided into two teams: Super Housemates vs. Power Teens. Nan was the odd one out and was Super Referee. Both were trying to gain possession of the power ball by competing in various challenges. It was because of the last task that Shy and another housemate got on each other’s nerves. Ejay and Shy were on the same team, and they ahd to hide the power ball from the other team. The members couldn’t find a compromise as to where to hide it and finally, Ejay stuck the power ball in the beverage fridge. Shy vehemently opposed, complaining that they could have found a better place. Rona tried to stop her, and Shy said, “Kung okay lang sa inyo matalo, e di okay!” True enough, Val saw the power ball, and the Super Housemates won 120 to 80. The super Housemates then became the “master” to their chosen “slave”. On top of being bossed around, Ejay had to wear boxing gloves, Josef had to act constipated, Robi had to be blindfolded, Rona had to talk backwards and Shy had to spin around.
In choosing their slaves, Alex initially chose Robi, but changed to Josef. This was still in line with him helping out Josef keep his word to Kuya to stay away from Nikki. The In Chick hesitated a bit, and eventually chose Robi. Val didn’t even bat an eyelash in choosing Ejay, to the Promdi Hottie’s delight. “Kahit habambuhay,” he quipped, to the others’ laughter. If punishments were always like this, he added, it was fine for him to be on the losing end anytime. Pris chose Shy, which sparked another issue.

Shy was tasked to wash dishes and Pris kept on reminding her to spin around. Shy couldn’t believe she had to do it even while washing and had to verify with Kuya before following. This irritated Pris no end, and had her muttering and complaining about Shy being a prima donna who was too lazy and refused to follow instructions. Beauty understood her side, though for her sake, warned Pris to control her words as she might be taken the wrong way. So irritated was Pris with Shy’s actions that she couldn’t agree Kuya’s comment about Shy being the most diligent. On the whole, Kuya was pleased with the clean-up and lifted the punishment.

Already seated apart from the rest, Shy opted to skip dinner and stayed in the room. Beauty and Val approached her and reminded her that she didn’t need to adjust to them anymore; they were available for her to hang out with or talk to. Shy still went to Kuya and explained that she usually and no qualms about joining new groups, yet no matter how she was enjoying Kuya’s house, she did not enjoy being with the housemates. Given the growing friction and doubt, will she be able to complete the final task which would have her hiding half of Nikki’s clothes?
