Challenges as the Teen Big Four

June 06, 2008 1:04 AM

Earlier yesterday, Kuya called the attention of Beauty, Alex and Nikki because they played around with the beads and threw some at each other. They had to pick up the beads and also pick up the pace as they only had 376 made at the time. A dart game followed, a happy memory as prelude to the bittersweet eviction night.

Maybe he had an inkling that he was the evictee, because Alex gave Beauty a souvenir as they were packing. He didn’t want to leave though, even whispered “I’m not ready to leave” at the last moment. Unfortunately, his name wasn’t part of the four. Robi, Nikki, Beauty and Alex were the chosen ones. As sad as they were to see Alex leave, they also couldn’t contain their excitement and pride as they were named the Teen Big Four. Kuya chanted the title several times until they were cheering and jumping up and down on their little colored circles.

For those who are going to the Big Night this Saturday, wear the color of the housemate you support! Wear blue for Robi, yellow for Nikki, green for Beauty and red for Ejay. Gates open at 6 pm, but take note that children 6 years and below will not be admitted. Videocameras are a no-no as well.

All felt a degree of pride well-earned. Robi likened the feeling to reaching the summit of a mountain, when one does all that he can and eventually reaches the goal. Nikki, amazed that people actually supported her, couldn’t quite describe the happiness she felt. Beauty was swaying between crying and screaming for joy, thanking God for giving her a chance, flawed as she was. Ejay was likewise thankful, and was a true believer that “hindi masama mangarap.”

Their pride was soon dampened as Kuya immediately gave them a new task. 77 candles were floating in the pool, and they had to make sure all were lighted within 5 minutes, For every 5 candles that went out, they would lose 1 of the 5 TV’s that they could give to 5 public schools. Even dressed in their best clothes, they went into the pool and did the challenge. Unfortunately, poor planning, coordination, and lack of presence of mind topped with a huge blower overhead caused them to lose all 5 TV sets.

Their failure was good, in a way, as they were humbled and reminded that they had a responsibility to the people outside, especially those who believed and voted for them. Kuya reminded them that they should think and act as one and prove that they were indeed deserving of the title. They then decided to give their all in each and every task.

This morning, the teens were made to put on loads of sunblock since they were going to be working under the scorching sun. Ejay put a bit too much, like icing on a cake. Their task was to keep a floater in the middle of the pool, and stack plastic water bottles into a tower. This time, the teens thought about their moves and seemed systematic in their plans. There was division of labor as Ejay tied the floater using the string from the accessories. Beauty measured water into each bottle to stabilize it. Nikki stacked the bottles and Robi was the all-around guy. They even thought about weighing the floater down by barbells. Yet… down crashed their first tower. Will they manage to salvage this and win their second task as Teen Big Four? Watch out on Uber and Primetime Bida tomorrow!
