Housemates welcome Mikan while keeping up with their training

May 13, 2008 5:56 PM

This morning, new house player Mikan Ong entered Kuya’s house and cooked breakfast for the teens. Wearing a mask similar to Shy’s, he diligently prepared a hearty meal before any of the housemates stirred from bed. When everyone was up, he then gathered them around and revealed his identity. Some recognized him as part of the 30 dreamers in the first cut of auditions. However, with “My Big Love’s” appearance the original house player Shy went missing.

For a second, the teens thought they were saved from back breaking training today because of their guest. But, as if on cue, the Philippine Air Force officers marched in, banged on their doors and started screaming orders. The housemates all quickly dressed and fell in line. At the blow of the whistle, the teens dropped to the ground and performed floor exercises. Everyone had difficulty performing the routine and had to repeat it over and over again. Even when they executed it perfectly, the officers “rewarded” them with five more repetitions.

Among the other teens, Priscilla had the hardest time coping with the harshness of the officers and the difficulty of the drills. She complained of her sore muscles and aching body so Chief Commanding Officer Capt. Cecilia Bernabe advised her that the mind is superior and it should be placed over matter, over body and heart. She also added that the Differently-Abled Teen is only hearing impaired and her body is in full working good condition. But Priscilla also insisted that she’s affected by all the shouting. Capt. Bernabe explained that what they are doing are their jobs and they’ve got nothing personal against the teens.

Daily drills and rigorous work-outs aren’t the only things the teens have to do this week. The housemates were also expected to keep the house spic and span. Under the watchful eyes of the officers, the teens washed the dishes and swept the floor. Anyone caught not doing anything will be penalized with push-ups. After the chores, the teens were then taught how to tie different knots like the square kno and over-hand loop, which are crucial for survival training.

Is Mikan a replacement of the first house player? How would he challenge the housemate’s character? Will the teens be able to handle the pressure of training and bring with them the essentials of survival for their Island Adventure?
