Walang iwanan

May 22, 2008 4:07 AM

Upon waking up, Robi, Rona, Nikki, Alex and Mikan wondered where the rest have gone. Even Kuya was quiet, and only they only had occasional instructions via the plasma TV. It was lucky that they had Kuya Primo, from Puerto Prinsesa’s Tagbanua tribe, to watch over them. As the missing housemates were roughing it out in the far island, so were the remaining five stripped of certain comforts. Their supplies were confiscated and replaced with the rugged ones. Their food was alive, and had to be caught first. Fortunately, they got to catch the chicken with their traps and Kuya Primo taught them how to prepare the eel or palos. Robi was intent in learning how to prepare the eel. Rona was first in catching a chicken, followed by Robi and Alex. Even Nikki was involved as she held the chicken which was about to be decapitated. Kuya Primo entertained them by teaching native songs, and they taught him the PBB dance in return. Getting the eel was their first task, and this would be exchanged for a clue to the whereabouts of the four missing teens. They failed this, so they were given a second chance: to eat an entire bowl of tamilok, a worm that lived in the mangroves. Nikki went first and, though she wasn’t enthusiastic about it, was able to finish her turn properly. Same went for the rest except Mikan who, despite spouting trivia about it earlier, spat it back out. Despite the glitch, the task was completed and they got their clue about the rest.

Ejay, Beauty and Nan woke up without Val in sight! The Dazzling Doll was spirited off by camouflaged persons at dawn, was taken off in a boat and left alone on another part of the island. The covert “bushes” were none other than ex-housemates Josef, Jolas and Kevin who were sent by Kuya to test the credo of the remaining teen housemates. Will they stick to their word and not allow one of them to go MIA?

Though obviously bothered, not one moved from their site and went about the tasks for the day. They were sent to the mangroves or bakawan via boat, where they met Lady Mangrove. She was singing about the nature of the mangrove and after educating them, proceeded to give them their first task: to plant new trees in the mangrove to add and replace the centuries-old trees there. Their second task was to get in the water to harvest talaba or clams which would also be part of their dinner. Beauty, who was terrified of the swampy water and possible creatures, was carried by Ejay and stayed in the boat while the two boys went underwater. Armed with a big rock, she used it to pound on the clams the boys handed to her. Their third task was to gather tamilok, a white form of worm that ate the bark of the old mangrove trees. This was a delicacy in Puerto Prinsesa and one that was also a rich source of iodine, protein and calcium. The teens flavored it with vinegar and had it for a snack.

The three headed back to camp and had another task waiting for them. They had to use a bow and arrow to get the fruits sitting on top of wooden stakes. Though unsuccessful, Kuya allowed them to eat the grapes. Dinner was over and done, yet there was still no sign of Valerie, a fact that was pointed out to the three teens by Kuya in the Confession Room. So trusting were they in Kuya that, though worried, all assumed that Val was off on a secret mission and thought it best to not question her disappearance. Unfortunately, though Kuya did have a hand in the matter, the point of the situation was to test their commitment to the credo, and they failed miserably. Ejay should probably have trusted his guts and risked Kuya’s probable ire and went off in search of his beloved. In fact, poor Valerie was off alone in another part of the island, scared and at a loss. She spent the entire day feeding stray animals and lamenting her fate: “Saklolo… Walang fire dito, walang magluto dito, walang kain dito. Saklolo, saklolo. Ay, diyos ko!” Restless though their sleep was, surely it was nothing compared to the lone Valerie who was curled up in a clammy cave.

Finally, the teens in the house were shown a video clip of the four housemates. Though sad to be left at home, they were truly happy to have spent the time with Kuya Primo, and they continued stringing beads. Kuya even talked to them all the way from the island to ask how they were and thank Ka Primo. Robi reported that the Tagbanuan was taking good care of them. Alex and Nikki expressed their regret at not being with Kuya and Mikan joked about being tortured and not being fed.

Things are definitely getting interesting! Tomorrow’s Primetime Bida will show the remaiing teens’ conversation with “Cyber Kuya” who instructs Nikki and Rona to pack, as they will soon follow the first four housemates on the island. See how the remaining boys will react and witness the girls’ fluster as they discover their undies gone. Don’t miss out on the PBB Teens Plus Island Adventure!
